The ASK

IMDb wanted to reintroduce itself to entertainment lovers everywhere—not just as a database, but as a cultural companion. With a new consumer campaign on the horizon, the team needed a brand film that could capture the emotional side of fandom while highlighting the product features fans already love.

The Challenge

For years, IMDb has been the go-to place for cast lists, trivia, and reviews—but it’s always been more than that. The challenge was to shift perception: from reference site to shared experience. How could IMDb celebrate the real ways movies and TV connect us—to each other and to ourselves?

The Work

We partnered with IMDb to concept and produce For Every Kind of Fan—a campaign built around one universal idea: no matter who you are or what you love, IMDb is part of the story.

The hero film brought that idea to life through four intimate vignettes, each celebrating a different kind of connection sparked by the stories we share.

Family

A Bollywood dance-off between a father and daughter, rated “10/10” by mom.

Friends

A young woman preparing for a premiere watch party, scrolling IMDb for fashion inspo and streaming updates.

Colleagues

Healthcare workers on a coffee run, huddled around a phone watching the trailer for the next big show.

Strangers

A couple discovering a poster from their first-date movie, as an antique-shop employee quietly adds it to her Watchlist.

Shot over two days on location in Los Angeles, the production captured warmth, humor, and nostalgia with bright, kinetic visuals and handheld movement that made every moment feel lived-in. Our team—alongside our production partner—handled every phase of the process: scripting, casting, pre-production, on-set direction, and post-production editing and finishing. The end result tied IMDb’s signature yellow energy to a single invitation: Find your next favorite.

The outcome

The campaign launched across streaming and social platforms with :30, :15, and :06 versions adapted for digital and advertising placements. Following its success, the work was localized for additional markets, expanding IMDb’s reach and relevance to entertainment fans around the world.

What began as a single brand film became a scalable, global platform celebrating the joy of shared storytelling—and IMDb’s place at the center of it all.
